Make sure to get the electricity meter reading before calling the company. It should be written on your inventory. If not, the landlord should give it to you. Ask also your landlord to provide you the name of the previous guy, who where living in the flat. The company will ask you for.

We recommand you to call the EDF company (which is the biggest electricity company, the former national company). You can get the number in the "ressources part" of this website.

Based on our experience, we recommand you Orange company. It's the former "France Telecom", and it's through this company that we face less difficulities (support, broke contracts).

  • Flat Insurance

You need to get a flat insurance before moving in your accommodation.
It's a law.

Believe us, it's very important to get a flat insurance during your stay. The landlord will ask you an insurance certificate once you get in the accommodation. For a single flat in Clermont Ferrand city centre, it will cost you around 70€ for the entire year.
